Aafia visited Islamabad in Jan 2008: uncle


WASHINGTON: The New York Times has reported that S H Farooqi, the uncle of MIT graduated Pakistani scientist Dr Aafia Siddiqi, has given a signed affidavit to the authorities swearing that Dr Aafia visited him in January 2008 in Islamabad and had asked for help to reach the Taliban in Afghanistan.

Is Stealing Worth All That Pain!?


Geo News received footage yesterday showing a 16 year old unclothed boy being badly lashed out at by the police while being locked up in the Hafizabad area.  A local shopkeeper accused him of stealing a mobile phone sim card and reported him to the police.

Permanent etchings

Your editorial "Permanent etchings" (March 2) has very rightly pointed out the issue of so-called Islamic provisions put into the Constitution by the late dictator General Ziaul Haq to serve his own political purposes. Apparently, they can be neither touched nor altered, just like etchings in the stone.
